What's going on in the background.

Hello everyone!
I am a writer, and I am writing a series of stories called the Tomorrow Tales. One of the main settings of the stories is a special place called Sawfalls (in its third age, Viola Bluffs). It is a beautiful utopian city, and represents the heart of the stories' themes: nature, peace and splendor.
What does this have to do with Minecraft? Well, I saw in the game an opportunity to turn something that was purely fiction into something very real indeed. Because of the capabilities of the program, you can now take up residence in a living, breathing model of the fabled city. In this sense, Sawfalls is a living poem, a new media art project that weaves a rich tapestry of communal creativity. We are each building the legacy of the city, and it becomes more unique and increases in potential with every new Sawfaller.
Now for a condensed version of the backstory of the town, which is learned fully via the reading of the tales themselves, which can be found in part at storywrite.com/harrison.
Sawfalls exists in a fantastical, undiscovered archipelago on Earth called Insalai. The people of these islands were primitive until a steamship called the Ark washes up on their shores completely packed with every kind of media from all over the world. People make off with the books and movies, etc., and learn from them. It is discovered that our society has recently collapsed. Pretty soon, about thirty years after the Ark, a civilization reminiscent of our own, replete with a variety of cultures, has taken root. Two major kingdoms, Azury and Rudan, rise in this period. Sawfalls is then founded by the legend Tom Saw and his wife, Isis Ranaan, after she has a vision about it. The town quickly rises to the capital of the kingdom, due to its lush location deep in the heart of the isle of Indigá. When Rudan laid siege on the isle, they made it all the way to the Sapphire Citadel, the city's oldest stronghold. At the last minute, Saw finishes his reinvention of the revolver, and he turns back the Rudanese. The city then goes on to become the political and cultural center of the isle for a number of years, with Saw's descendants returning many significant inventions to the world. After another fifty years or so of dynastic rule, Azury adopts a parliamentary democracy similar to Britain's. This begins the second era of the town, where it gradually changes its identity from a political and military center to an artistic and commercial hub. Over this period, the current second era, a number of names change. Insalai becomes known as the United Isles, Azury becomes known as the Azure Commonwealth, Indigá becomes Violet Island, and Sawfalls itself is renamed at the end. This is all in accordance with the changing ideals of the town through time. The Minecraft version of Sawfalls will enter the third era once it is sufficiently advanced. In the frame story of the Tomorrow Tales, Tomorrow, the Illustrious Return, Sawfalls has just emerged into this utopian third age, where a unified world government rises, and renewed focus on natural living come to the fore. The transition to the third era will be marked by the change of the city's name.
TL/DR version: The city has three major eras. The first is its past as the stronghold of a kingdom. In the second, and current age, it becomes a commercial and artistry-centered city of a Parliamentary Monarchy. It's focus shifts to being a bustling country town, while the political center of the isle relocates to the city of Pluma (which is also on the server, but it's currently private). In its third age, which it will eventually blossom into, it is a luxurious utopia, an organic, arboreal settlement in a newly spread worldwide democracy. It is then the city will be renamed Viola Bluffs, to sever ties from its militaristic past. The eras of the city provide its deep, layered style of architecture that mirrors reality.
